What does “free” actually get you?
Nearly every resume builder is free to write in. The difference shows up at the download button.
| Builder | What the free plan gives you | Cheapest paid plan |
|---|---|---|
| UiResume | Unlimited real PDF downloads, 3 templates, no account required | $9.90/mo |
| Zety | Build free — then pay to download | ~$25.95 / 4 weeks |
| Resume.io | Plain-text export only on the free plan | ~$24.95 / 4 weeks |
| Rezi | 3 PDF downloads total, for life | $29/mo |
| Kickresume | Unlimited downloads, but 4 templates, no AI | $19/mo |
| Enhancv | Basic building, most features locked | $19/mo |
Every row is the month-to-month rate, so the comparison is like for like — UiResume Pro is $5.75/mo if you pay annually. Competitor free-tier behaviour and pricing checked August 2026 from each provider's public pricing page. Plans change — please verify before deciding.
Built to get out of your way.
Everything below is on the free plan. The paid tier adds templates and removes the daily AI cap — it does not unlock the door.
Paste the posting. Approve each change.
Your summary and experience get rewritten against the job description — and nothing lands until you say so. Every edit is shown next to the original with the keywords that justified it, and one click undoes it.
Nine layouts, three free.
All typeset to survive an ATS parser. Switching template never loses your content.
Score it before you send it.
Test the finished resume against a real posting and see which keywords are missing. Try it without building anything.
A matching letter, generated.
Live A4 preview, three letter templates, tone selector, same PDF export.
Start typing immediately.
No sign-up wall, no email gate, no card. Register only when you want to save work.
Written help
AI that shows you its limits.
Four things the assistant does, all of them free to try before you decide whether any of this is worth paying for. No trial countdown, no card on file.
- Rewrite any bullet point in place
- Tailor your summary and experience to a job description
- Score the finished resume against a real posting
- Generate a matching cover letter

Yes, and the download is not the paywall. Build your resume and export a real, formatted PDF free — as many times as you like, with no account and no card. The free plan includes 3 templates plus a daily allowance of AI writing help, cover letter generation and ATS checks. Pro is $9.90 a month, or $5.75 a month billed annually, and unlocks all 9 templates, unlimited CVs and uncapped AI.
A resume is a concise summary of your professional experience, skills and education. Its job is to get you an interview, not to tell your whole story.
Entry-level employers do not expect extensive work history. Lead with education, volunteer work, projects and transferable skills. The AI suggestions will help you frame all of it in the language employers scan for.
The core sections are contact information, a professional summary, work experience, education and skills. Optional but often decisive: projects, certifications, volunteering and languages.
The three formats are reverse-chronological (most common — newest experience first), functional (skill-based, useful for career changers) and combination. Reverse-chronological is the safe choice for most people.
One page for most candidates. Two is acceptable with 10+ years of directly relevant experience, but rarely more. Recruiters spend an average of six seconds on a first pass.
Each entry needs a job title, company and location, employment dates, and three to five bullet points describing what you achieved — action verb first, with numbers wherever you have them.
Build it. Download it. Free.
No account to start. No card to finish. The PDF you export is the real one — not a watermarked preview of a resume you have to buy back.
